Anthem Memory Care appoints VP of clinical services

Whitney Lane, RN, has been named vice president of clinical services for Anthem Memory Care. In this position, she is responsible for providing leadership and vision for the clinical excellence and quality for Anthem Memory Care’s 21 communities.

Lane previously was chief operating officer for Watercrest Senior Living in Vero Beach, FL. She also previously was divisional director of health and wellness for Senior Lifestyle Corp. in Chicago.

Throughout her 18-year career in senior living and healthcare, Lane has experience within operations, sales, financials, new development, acquisitions, human resources, training and more in independent living, assisted living and memory care settings.

Lane earned a Bachelor of Science degree in speech pathology at Lambuth University in Jackson, TN; a master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN; and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Union University in Jackson, TN. In addition, she has a certificate as an Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care trainer from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.

EveryAge Foundation names Rev. Thad Austin new VP of philanthropy

The Rev. Thad S. Austin, PhD, has been named vice president of philanthropy at the EveryAge Foundation.

Most recently, Austin served in senior leadership at Duke University, where he designed and implemented major initiatives supported by The Duke Endowment. He also is an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University in Indianapolis, where he was a William and Edie Enright Fellow, involved in digital communication and online engagement.

Austin graduated magna cum laude with an undergraduate degree in Bible and theology at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. He received a Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary and earned a PhD in philanthropic studies at Indiana University. He also has studied at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and was a visiting American scholar at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Echo Lake Retirement Community adds two to leadership team

Lee Gillis has joined Echo Lake, a SageLife community in Malvern, PA, as general manager, and Charlie Hearn is the new dining director. 

Gillis is a senior living executive with almost 35 years of experience. Prior to Echo Lake, she was executive director for an Atria Senior Living community in Voorhees, NJ, and Brookdale Senior Living communities in Florence and Hillsborough, NJ.

Hearn is a culinary arts veteran, having worked in the field since the age of 14. For the past 15 years, he has worked for upscale senior living communities, during which time his industry accolades have included Delaware Chef Challenge Champion and Barbeque Cook-off Champion.

Potter started her career in housekeeping, working her way up as a resident care coordinator, lifestyle director, lead concierge and business office director before becoming an executive director several years ago.

Watermark appoints Stefanie Thune executive director

Stefanie Thune has been named executive director at The Watermark at the Pearl, set to open in September in Portland, OR.

Before joining The Watermark at the Pearl, Thune was the managing director for Northern California for Watermark Retirement Communities and had led senior living communities across the country as a regional vice president and an executive director.

She started her career in Portland working for M Financial Group, eventually working as a long-term care insurance policy analyst while volunteering for the Oregon ombudsman’s office.

Thune is a graduate of Marylhurst College, obtained certification in geriatric mental health from the University of Washington and completed her master’s degree in gerontology at the University of Southern California.

Meadows at Escalante names new executive director, director of sales and marketing

Tom Trump is the new executive director at The Meadows at Escalante, an Integral Senior Living in St. George, UT, and Corey Jenkins is the new director of sales and marketing.

Trump brings experience spanning various service lines in the senior living industry, among them assisted living and memory care. In the past few years, he has been a regional director of operations, supporting and supervising the operations of communities across the country.

Jenkins has been directly involved in improving sales and marketing efforts in various positions across his 20 years of experience. He previously worked in the healthcare industry. 

HealthPRO Heritage CEO John Heller retires; Maxine Hochhauser to join as new leader 

HealthPRO Heritage founder and CEO John Heller has announced his retirement after 16 years of leadership. Maxine Hochhauser will join the rehab and health innovations company as CEO on April 24.

Under his leadership, Heller grew HealthPRO Heritage from a $10 million company that operated in three states in 2007 to a $500 million national health services provider with business in 43 states.

Hochhauser began her career as a physical therapist. Most recently, she was president of the Home and Community Based Services Division of LHC Group. Before LHC, Hochhauser held senior leadership  positions with Addus Homecare (chief operating officer), Amedisys (senior vice president), Alliancecare (CEO), VNA  (president/CEO) and Metropolitan Jewish Health System (executive vice president/COO).

Benchmark Executive Director Fatima Feliciano receives President’s Award

Fatima Feliciano, executive director of Benchmark at Hanover in Hanover, MA, has received the Benchmark 2023 President’s Award, which is Waltham, MA-based Benchmark Senior Living’s highest honor for employees working in senior leadership roles.

Feliciano was selected for exhibiting outstanding operational leadership in opening Benchmark at Hanover, the company’s latest development, in October. She received the award March 9 at the company’s 20th annual awards gala.

Feliciano initially joined Benchmark in 2018 as the executive director of Benchmark at Plymouth Crossings before being selected in 2021 to open Benchmark at Hanover. Prior to Benchmark, Feliciano, a certified director of assisted living, had a career in residential property management for more than a decade.

Gov. Sununu selects Benchmark’s Meghan Wentworth for Alzheimer’s Subcommittee

Meghan Wentworth, the mind and memory care director for Benchmark at Rye, Rye, NH, was selected by New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) to serve on the state’s Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia subcommittee. Wentworth will represent the assisted living industry as the subcommittee’s sole assisted living representative.

Established in 2014, the subcommittee oversees Alzheimer’s-related matters in the state, including developing educational programs and training as it advocates for the more than 26,000 individuals and the 58,000 caregivers in New Hampshire affected by dementia.

Blake Bostwick has been appointed as chief operating officer at illumifin

Bostwick joins illumifin after a 20-year career at Transamerica, most recently as CEO of Transamerica’s Individual Solutions division, which included long-term care, life and annuities businesses. 

Previously, Blake was CEO of the workplace solutions division, which comprises Transamerica’s retirement, employee benefits, stable value solutions and advice businesses. He also served as enterprise chief operating officer and has held a variety of other leadership roles, including in marketing and technology.
