Retirement Unlimited Inc. names Amy Stephenson VP of operations for Florida
Amy Stephenson has been named vice president of operations for Florida for Retirement Unlimited Inc.
Stephenson has been working in the senior living industry for almost 30 years. She previously has held the titles of regional director of operations, senior executive director, executive director, marketing director or social service director for other senior living companies. She received her undergraduate degree in social work from Florida Atlantic University.
LCB Senior Living announces promotions
Norwood, MA-based LCB Senior Living has announced the promotions of Lori LePage to chief human resources officer, Karen Foley to senior vice president of sales and Chris Spencer to senior vice president of operations.
LePage joined LCB in 2013 as vice president of human resources, later becoming senior vice president of human resources. Foley started with LCB as vice president of sales in 2017. Spencer began with LCB in 2014 as regional director of operations.
In total, 38 people were promoted internally across LCB in 2023, according to the company. Among them were Daniel McGrew, who was promoted to vice president of investments; Lauren Flynn, senior director of human relations; Sam Jackson, senior regional director of operations; and Kimberly Johnson, senior regional director of operations.
National Church Residences hires Kelli Meyung to be VP of senior living operations
Kelli Meyung has returned to Columbus, OH-based National Church Residences to serve as vice president of senior living operations. In this position, Meyung directs operations for three Ohio-based and two Florida- based continuing care retirement communities within the organization’s senior living portfolio, ensuring efficient office practices, compliance with industry regulations, sound financial management and excellence in care and service delivery.
Meyung comes to the organization with more than 30 years of experience in the senior living industry, including her role at one of Florida’s largest senior communities, where she served as the senior director of healthcare. After previously serving as National Church Residences’ vice president of operations design for the senior living division, in 2021 Meyung embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. She founded her own consulting company that successfully created and delivered an executive director certification program for the Ohio Assisted Living Association, as well as designed corporate active-aging and wellness program platforms and offered interim operational leadership services for senior living providers.
Meyung began her career as an occupational therapist and then was a nursing home administrator before moving into assisted living and memory care operations. She holds a certified change management practitioner certificate and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare administration from Franklin University.
Kendal names Doug Helman Kendal transition operations specialist
Doug Helman has been named transition operations specialist at Newark, DE-based The Kendal Corporation.
Helman’s 30-year career includes a 19-year tenure as the executive director of Kendal at Granville (now Otterbein Granville), Granville, OH, opening the community and serving as its first and only executive director during that period.
Helman holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in business administration from Bowling Green State University, where he majored in healthcare administration. He also is a licensed nursing home administrator.
Goodwin Living names Andrew Cretal managing director of real estate development
Andrew Cretal has been appointed managing director of real estate development for Goodwin Living, a not-for-profit, faith-based, senior living and health care services organization in the national capital region.
In this role, Cretal will have responsibility for the oversight and implementation of strategic planning for the real estate assets of Goodwin Living, which includes reinvestment in existing senior living campuses and future development projects. Bringing real estate redevelopment and development expertise in-house, Cretal will equip Goodwin Living to undertake more site analysis, financial modeling, reinvestment knowledge and risk mitigation of its current campuses and provide greater insight into future mission growth opportunities.
Acts Retirement–Life Communities elects Kathryn Brod to board of directors
Kathryn Brod has been elected to the board of directors at Fort Washington, PA-based Acts Retirement-Life Communities.
With more than 30 years of experience in the senior living sector, Brod brings a wealth of financial management, research, marketing, human resources management and systems consulting knowledge to the Acts board.
Her career includes leadership roles at prominent organizations, most notably serving as president and CEO of LeadingAge Ohio. She also formerly held positions at Mather LifeWays, where she was vice president of senior living strategic initiatives, and at specialty investment bank Ziegler, where she was senior vice president, director of research.
Silver Birch Living of Fort Wayne names Amanda Harlow executive director
Amanda Harlow has been named executive director at Silver Birch Living of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne, IN.
Harlow has spent more than seven years in the senior living industry in multiple roles.
Heritage Pointe of Warren adds Terrence Jent, Nichol Cardwell to leadership team
Terrence Jent has been named the administrator and Nichol Cardwell has been named director of nursing at Heritage Pointe of Warren, a life plan community owned and operated by the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, IN.
Jent has an undergraduate degree in organizational leadership and previously had worked in finance. To reach his goal of becoming an administrator, he underwent 1,000 hours of nursing home administration training and earned an MBA in healthcare management.
Cardwell worked as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care while in high school and then went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Meadow Ridge names Laura Barbieri director of resident and family services
Laura Barbieri has been named director of resident and family services at Meadow Ridge, managed by Benchmark Senior Living in Redding, CT.
Barbieri previously was the social worker for Ridge Crest, the health center at Meadow Ridge. She has 23 years of experience in healthcare, much of which has been spent working with older adults.
American Healthcare REIT adds Alan Peterson III to lead investor relations
Alan Peterson III has joined Irvine, CA-based American Healthcare REIT as vice president of investor relations and finance. He is responsible for leading the self-managed real estate investment trust’s investor relations efforts and various strategic initiatives.
Before joining American Healthcare REIT, Peterson was an equity research analyst on the residential research team at Green Street, an independent research and advisory firm focused on commercial real estate. During his time at Green Street, Peterson played an integral role in the coverage of approximately 15 publicly traded real estate companies.
Peterson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in finance, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, from Chapman University.
American Healthcare REIT’s portfolio includes senior housing, skilled nursing facilities, medical office buildings and other healthcare-related facilities.
LeadingAge board welcomes new members
Roberto Muñiz, president and CEO of Parker Health Group, is chair of the LeadingAge Board of Directors for a two-year term that will end in January 2026.

HKS announces leadership changes, new partner
Dan Noble has been named CEO and chairman, and Sam Mudro as president and chief financial officer, at global architecture, design, planning and advising firm HKS. Additionally, Siobhan Farvardin has been named a partner and shareholder at the company.
Noble has been president and CEO for 10 years, a joint role traditionally held by one individual at the firm. He and the HKS board recently divided the CEO and president roles to try to capitalize on market opportunities and drive an even higher level of design excellence and innovation for its global clients. As CEO and chairman, Noble will lead and shape HKS’ vision, strategy and organizational culture. He also will lead and advise the board, maintaining ultimate decision-making authority for high-level business changes.
Mudro assumes the role of president while retaining his CFO position, which he has held since joining HKS in 2015. He now oversees overall business strategy implementation and is responsible for operational and financial performance, reporting to Noble and the board.
Farvardin, who works out of the Dallas office, is global practice director, senior living and a principal at HKS. In addition to senior living properties, her portfolio includes commercial office buildings, student housing and kindergarten through 12th grade education building. She speaks regularly on the importance of integrating senior housing into mixed-use environments.

Todd Ellingson named CFO at Health Dimensions Group
Todd Ellingson has been named chief financial officer at Health Dimensions Group.
Ellingson has 35 years of financial leadership experience. He earned his accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1989. He is also an alumnus of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he earned an MBA in 2001.
Red Oak Capital Holdings announces several appointments
Will Flaa is now Red Oak’s chief lending officer; Jennefer Weston and Mac Culbertson have joined the company as commercial real estate loan analysts; and James Myatt will serve as a commercial real estate loan administrator.
Flaa joined Red Oak last fall as senior vice president of investments, bringing more than 30 years of experience in loan origination, valuation, analysis and research, and mortgage capital analysis to the role.
Before joining Red Oak, Weston was a global wealth and investment management credit underwriter with Bank of America in Charlotte. She graduated from Canisius College with an undergraduate degree in business management and marketing.
Culbertson is an alumnus of Miami University’s Farmer School of Business, Miami, OH, where he earned an undergraduate degree in finance.
Myatt comes to Red Oak from Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, where he served as a closing associate. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Cynthia Shonaiya of Hord Coplan Machta appointed first Black chair of Maryland State Board of Architects
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) has designated Cynthia Shonaiya, principal at Hord Coplan Macht, as the first Black chair of the State Board of Architects. This distinction is a celebration of her 30 years of leadership and dedication to advancing design across the state and serving the best interests of all its citizens, according to the firm.
Since joining Hord Coplan Macht in 2000, Shonaiya has devoted much of her career to enriching the lives of older adults. She has designed more than 250 senior living projects, including independent and assisted living, memory care, active adult and affordable senior housing developments, as well as university retirement communities.
Shonaiya previously was the vice chair of the Maryland State Board of Architects. She also serves on the American Institute of Architects Design for Aging Leadership Group, is a juror for several national design competitions and is a regular speaker at national and regional industry conferences.
