Kathleen Nardoni has been named executive director at The Watermark at St. Peters

Nardoni has a 15-year career in senior living and care, including all levels of care, marketing and administration, with responsibilities for opening a new independent living community. She is a licensed senior living administrator and spent time in law enforcement earlier in her career.  She holds a degree in criminal law.

Edgemere promotes Teresa Bates to executive director

Teresa Bates has been promoted to executive director at Edgemere

Bates brings more than 25 years of senior living experience to the community. She started with Edgemere in 2002 and assisted with the opening of its health center. Bates held several positions within the community for 17 years before returning in 2022 as the associate executive director.

Health Dimensions Group adds Alex Knight as senior director of recruitment & placement services 

Alex Knight has been named senior director of recruitment and placement services at Health Dimensions Group.

Knight joined the HDG team in 2021 as manager of talent acquisition and was promoted to director of talent acquisition in 2023. Before his time with the organization, he was a nursing home administrator for Crest View Senior Communities and executive director of an 87-bed long-term care residence in Minneapolis. 

Knight is an alum of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he earned an undergraduate degree. In addition, he is licensed by the state of Minnesota as a nursing home administrator and assisted living director.

Massachusetts Assisted Living Association names Barbara Southall as director of education

Barbara Southall has been named the director of education at the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association.

Southall has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and most recently was the director of QA, Memory Care and Life Enrichment at Wingate Living. Previously, she worked as director of dementia program management at Athena Health Care Systems.

AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins to step down at end of year

AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins has decided to step down when her contract expires at the end of the year.

Jenkins has served as CEO for the past decade. She has been part of AARP since 2004, when she joined the AARP Services Inc. Board of Directors, where she was chair of the board from 2009 to 2010. In 2010, she was named as president of AARP Foundation and in 2013 became AARP’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Under Jenkins’ leadership, AARP has received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, has been recognized by Ethisphere as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, has been named as one of Fast Company magazine’s Best Workplaces for Innovators, and for the past seven years has been named as a Washington Post Best Workplace. In 2019 and 2021, Fortune magazine named her as “One of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.”
