Ohio Living appoints Barbara Lyon chief development officer

Barbara Lyon has been named the chief development officer at Ohio Living

She has more than 25 years of not-for-profit management and philanthropy experience. Lyon formally was the corporate executive of gift planning for the Ohio Living Foundation from 2021-2022.. She also formerly was vice president of the United Way of Delaware County for more than a decade. In 2022, she founded Lyon & Co., which provides consulting services in the areas of operations and development strategy. 

Lyon holds an undergraduate degree in health promotion from Ohio State University.

Sonida adds Max Levy as CIO, Lily Donohue to board

Max Levy has been named chief innovation officer at Sonida Senior Living, and Lily H. Donohue has been appointed to the organization’s board of directors.

Levy has been a principal at Conversant since 2020. He has been a director of Sonida since 2021 and currently serves on the board of Crossroads Impact, a US-based impact lender.

Levy earned received an undergraduate degree in intellectual history from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Donohue, who is joining the board, is president and CEO of Everstory Partners. She formerly was the CEO of Holiday Retirement.

She earned her undergraduate degree in business administration from Boston University.

Emerald names Denis Wells corporate controller

Denis Wells has been named corporate controller at Emerald Communities

Wells has more than 25 years of experience in accounting and comes to Emerald after working as corporate controller at a nonprofit hospital in Oklahoma.

She earned her undergraduate degree in accounting from Cameron University and is certified public accountant.

Lifespace adds Chris Andersen as Newcastle Place executive director

Chris Andersen has been named the executive director of Newcastle Place, a Lifespace Communities community. 

Andersen has 29 years of experience in senior living and healthcare, including previously serving at Lifespace as executive director at the Beacon Hill, Claridge Court and Oak Trace communities from 2004 to 2013. Most recently, he was executive director for Oakmont Senior Living’s Simi Valley and Riverpark campuses.

Andersen earned his undergraduate degree in business administration summa cum laude from Capella University and is a licensed nursing home administrator in Illinois, Kansas and Virginia.

She joins Watercrest with 28 years of experience in assisted living. She began her career in senior living as a recreation assistant while earning a master’s degree in gerontology.

​AHCA/NCAL CEO Mark Parkinson named among 500 Most Influential People

American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living President and CEO Mark Parkinson has been named to Washingtonian magazine’s list of Washington DC’s 500 Most Influential People of 2024

This recognition is one of many he has received over the past year, including the McKnight’s Pinnacle Awards Career Achievement Award and being named a 2023 Top Lobbyist by The Hill, his 11th consecutive year to receive thi​s honor. He also had the distinction of being selected as one of the “100 M​ost Influential People in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare in 2023 for the fifth time. Most recently, Parkinson was awarded​ the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing LTPAC Lifetime Impact Award.

Leopardo promotes Dave Rutledge to senior VP of healthcare and senior living

Dave Rutledge has been promoted to senior vice president of healthcare and senior living at Leopardo, construction strategists and specialists. 

Rutledge joined Leopardo in 2009 as a project engineer before rising to project executive in 2018 and then vice president in 2021. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois, as well as an undergraduate degree in architectural studies. He is also a LEED-accredited professional of building design and construction.
