Lifespace Communities names Maria Mercer VP of human resources

Maria Mercer has been named the vice president of human resources at Dallas and Des Moines, IA-based Lifespace Communities

Most recently, Mercer was vice president of global human resources and mergers and acquisitions at global tax firm Ryan. She also previously worked for Hewlett Packard and Electronic Data Systems.

Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge names Tyler Kendall president and CEO

Tyler Kendall will take on the role of president and CEO of Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge, a Type A not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Charlottesville, VA, effective July 8. He will succeed Gary Selmeczi upon his retirement following a 19-year career in service to the WCBR community.

Kendall’s appointment follows a national search. His career has included serving as vice president of post-acute care services with the Hamilton Health Care System and as director of operations and administrator with the Mary E. Bivins Foundation.

Kendall earned a Bachelor of Science in health professions at Texas State University and is a licensed nursing home administrator. He has participated in the Georgia Hospital Association Leadership Institute and has served on multiple boards, including LeadingAge Texas and the Northwest Georgia College and Career Academy.

LCB Senior Living names Andrew Gillis, Addie Ricci executive directors

Andrew Gillis has been named executive director of The Residence at Vinnin Square, Swampscott, MA, and Addie Ricci has been named executive director of The Residence at Westport, Westport, CT. Both communities are owned and operated by LCB Senior Living.

Gillis has 30 years of experience in assisted living, skilled nursing and hospice. He is licensed both as a nursing home administrator and as a clinical social worker. Previously, he was the president and chief operating officer for Bluepoint Healthcare. Gillis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a Master of Social Work degree from Salem State University.

Ricci brings with her 16 years of experience working in the senior living industry, providing memory care for older adults living with dementia. In addition to a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of New Haven, Ricci holds a Bachelor of Science degree in public health from Southern Connecticut University. Prior to The Residence at Westport, she was executive director at a Bridges by Epoch community.

Morning Pointe of East Hamilton names Ian Shives senior executive director

Ian Shives has been named senior executive director of Morning Pointe of East Hamilton, Ooltewah, TN.

Previously the executive director at Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove Assisted Living in Ooltewah, Shives has been with Morning Pointe Senior Living for three and a half years. He earned his degree in social work from Southern Adventist University in 2010. He started his career in senior living as a director of social services for Life Care Centers of America. Shives then went on to work as a director of operations and vice president of operations for two other senior living companies in Colorado, Kansas and Kentucky.

Benchmark at Rye names Mallory Lord executive director

Mallory Lord has been named executive director at Benchmark at Rye, a Benchmark Senior Living community in Rye, NH. 

Lord has over 15 years of property management experience. Most recently, she served as a regional property manager for New York-based Panco Management, overseeing six properties consisting of over 1,200 apartments. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s in elementary education from Lesley University.

White Horse Village adds three to board of directors

Ken Frantz, Norm Ledwin and Steven J. Videon have been appointed to the board of directors at White Horse Village, a Newtown Square, PA, senior living community. 

Frantz is a leader with more than 30 years of experience in driving operational improvements in project management within information technology. His notable roles include director of cyber and AI security services at KPMG LLP and chief information officer/vice president of information systems at North Highland Worldwide Consulting.

Ledwin brings more than 35 years of leadership experience in healthcare to the board. His career includes serving as president and CEO of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, Eastern Maine Medical Center and MetroHealth Saint Luke’s Medical Center. He also is a resident at White Horse Village. 

Videon joins the board with more than 30 years of business management experience as owner of Videon Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Newtown Square and Videon Chevrolet in Phoenixville, PA.

LeadingAge North Carolina adds Libby Bush, Marianne Ratcliffe to board

Libby Bush and Marianne Ratcliffe have been added to the board of directors of LeadingAge North Carolina

Bush is president and CEO of Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community in Asheville, NC. Prior to joining Deerfield in 2022, she was the CEO of Vinson Hall Retirement Community in McLean, VA. Bush attended the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH, for undergraduate studies and received her master’s degree at the University of Maryland.

Ratcliffe is president and CEO of Carol Woods Retirement Community in Chapel Hill, NC. She joined Carol Woods in 2021 after a career in senior health services, most recently with Piedmont Health Services. Ratcliffe is a graduate of Skidmore College and earned her master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is an adjunct professor at the UNC Gillings School of Public Health.

Welltower board members elected

Nice directors were elected to the board of Toledo, OH-based real estate investment trust Welltower on Thursday, the REIT said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission: Kenneth J. Bacon, Karen B. DeSalvo, Dennis G. Lopez, Shankh Mitra, Ade J. Patton, Diana W. Reid, Sergio D. Rivera, Johnese M. Spisso and Kathryn M. Sullivan.

They will hold office until the next annual meeting of shareholders and until their respective successors have been elected.

DiningRD names Chad Walter CFO

Chad Walter has been named the chief financial officer at St. Louis-based DiningRD, a company owned by Evolution Capital Partners of Cleveland and providing services and technology aimed at improving nutrition outcomes for residents in senior living communities and post-acute care facilities.  

Walter has held financial and operational leadership roles for more than 15 years. He began his career in consulting and worked for BKD and CCA Global Partners. Before joining DiningRD, he held various positions, including chief financial officer and vice president of operations at CoreLink. 

Walter earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and management information systems from Saint Louis University.
