Keisha McDaniel, PhD, has been named vice president of marketing at Sonata Senior Living.

McDaniel joins Sonata with more than 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, branding and journalism, driving strategic growth and revenue across diverse industries, including Fortune 500 brands and major media outlets.

McDaniel sits on the boards for the University of South Florida, George Washington University and the YMCA of Central Florida. She holds a doctorate degree from Walden University, an MBA from Florida Metropolitan University and an undergraduate degree from Alabama A&M University.

Susan McCormick-Agee has been named vice president of health and wellness at Experience Senior Living.

A registered RN and seasoned resident care professional, McCormick-Agee has experience in clinical operations, regulatory compliance, crisis management, strategic partnerships and resident health and wellness. She comes to Experience from Phoenix Senior Living, where she oversaw clinical operations as the vice president of clinical. Prior to this role, McCormick-Agee gained more than 15 years of senior living experience at Sunrise Senior Living, where she was vice president of resident care.

Broadview at Purchase names Kate Abate as resident services and intergenerational program director

Kate Abate has been named resident services and intergenerational program director at Broadview at Purchase College, now under construction.

Abate is also a wellness professional with experience as a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, crisis counselor, yoga teacher (RYT-500) and an accomplished athlete in bodybuilding. Prior to her work in gerontology, Abate ran a wellness business for 10 years, focused on the implementation of behavioral and environmental health, nutrition and fitness.

Abate is a credentialed gerontologist with a Master of Science degree in gerontology from the University of Southern California.

David Pinter has been named a sales specialist at LCB Senior Living, assisting LCB communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Pinter joins LCB with more than 20 years of experience in senior living sales and operations. Most recently, he held the director of market research position for Wayforth, assisting with the process of moving older adults from their previous homes into senior living.

LCB Senior Living names Jolie Whitten area business development director for Boston region

Jolie Whitten was named area business development director for the Boston, MA region at LCB Senior Living.

Whitten has been in the senior living and care industry for 20 years, working in sales for various types of facilities, including assisted living and memory care communities, skilled nursing facilities and hospices. She most recently held a position for Bowman Place Assisted Living and Memory Care as director of business development.

Holly Weaver has been promoted to director of community life services at Sagewood

Weaver joined the Sagewood Community Life Services team in 2021 with a background in event planning and hospitality. After two decades of working events, she decided to pursue a career more aligned with her passion for senior living.

Before joining Sagewood, Weaver worked for local organizations such as The Phoenix Theatre Company, TheaterWorks of Peoria and The Phoenix Vegan Fest. She graduated with a degree in business administration from Glendale Community College and gained several hospitality accreditations through the state of Arizona.

Springpoint names Patricia Polchak assistant executive director of Meadow Lakes

Patricia Polchak has been named the new assistant executive director of Springpoint’s life plan community in East Windsor, NJ: Meadow Lakes.

Polchak brings 29 years of long-term and sub-acute healthcare experience as a licensed nursing home administrator. Most recently, she was healthcare administrator at The Pines at Whiting.

In 2012, Polchak was recognized as an outstanding administrator by her receipt of the American College of Health Care Administrators’ Facility Leadership Award. She is a founding member of the Ocean Regional Ethics Committee.

Polchak has an undergraduate degree from California State University.

Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall names Madison Norris wellness associate

Madison Norris has been named a wellness associate at Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, a Liberty Senior Living community in Wilmington, NC. 

Norris is a part-time wellness associate and will become a full-time employee on May 25. She joined the staff after working as a wellness intern at the community from January through May 2022.

Norris is currently completing a master’s degree in gerontology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Jim Orheim has been named president and CEO of LeadingAge Wisconsin

Orheim has more than 25 years of progressive leadership experience guiding day-to-day operations of nonprofit and for-profit organizations. He has a concentration in organizational visioning, strategic planning, implementation, innovation and team building. Prior to joining LeadingAge Wisconsin, he was an executive leader at the College of American Pathologists from 2012-2023. 

Orheim holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Marquette University.

Cushman & Wakefield names Michelle MacKay next CEO, Andrew McDonald global president and COO

Michelle MacKay will be the next CEO of global commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield, the company announced. Its board has accepted John Forrester’s intent to retire from his position as CEO and board member, effective June 30, following 35 years of service.

MacKay’s appointment as Forrester’s successor is part of the company’s succession plan. She currently is president and chief operating officer and will assume the role of CEO as of July 1, at which time she also will become a member of the board. Brett White will remain as executive chairman of the board, and Forrester will remain employed as a strategic adviser until Dec. 31.

Additionally, Andrew McDonald, currently president of Cushman & Wakefield, has been appointed by the board to an expanded role of global president and chief operating officer overseeing all of the firm’s service lines and regions.

MacKay joined Cushman & Wakefield as a board member in 2018 and served on the board until 2020, when she was appointed COO. She was promoted to president and COO on Jan. 1, 2022, with direct operational and management oversight of many of the firm’s service lines and regions, including the EMEA region, Global Occupier Services and C&W Services.

MacKay has more than 30 years of experience at a variety of public and privately held companies and has served on two public company boards in addition to Cushman & Wakefield’s board. Previously, she was executive vice president, investments, and head of capital markets at iStar Inc., a real estate investment trust that since has merged with Safehold Inc. She also formerly served in leadership roles at UBS (previously Paine Webber), JPMorgan Chase and the Hartford Insurance Company’s investment arm, HIMCO.

McDonald has been with Cushman & Wakefield for more than 20 years, most recently serving as president of Cushman & Wakefield since 2021, leading the firm’s largest business lines in the Americas and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to his role as president, he held several senior leadership roles at Cushman & Wakefield after a 15-year career as a brokerage professional, including chief executive for the Americas region, president of the Americas West Region and regional managing principal of Southern California for Cushman & Wakefield.

Ebenezer receives four awards from Minnesota Real Estate Journal

The Minnesota Real Estate Journal has honored Ebenezer with the following four awards during its annual ceremony last week:

  • Property Management Company of the Year: Ebenezer Management Services
  • Project Manager of the Year: Jill Nokleby Kaiser
  • Senior Living Woman of the Year: Susan Farr
  • People’s Choice Award: Susan Farr

Kaiser, Ebenezer director of housing development, has more than 20 years of experience in senior housing, including site management, project development, staff coaching, training, grant management, board relations and resident relations.

Farr, Ebenezer vice president of business development/sales and marketing, has more than 36 years of experience in the senior living industry. Her experience includes community planning with both cities and development professionals, creating innovative sales and marketing techniques, filling fledgling properties, and coordinating effective management processes across multiple housing sites. 

Nobi taps Niels Coch to lead US operations

Niels Coch was announced as the new leader of Nobi’s US operations. 

In this role, Coch will focus on rolling out long-term organizational strategies and driving business development opportunities for the company’s flagship device, a smart lamp.

Coch has been involved in healthcare technology for 17 years in various parts of the world, with a major emphasis on senior care during the last seven years. He previously worked for IndigoCare and ResponseCare (RCare) Inc., helping nurse-call solution providers increase their market shares.
