Watercrest promotes Johnita Jackson-Hannah to VP of clinical operations

Johnita Jackson-Hannah has been named vice president of clinical operations at Vero Beach, FL-based Watercrest Senior Living.

She recently celebrated her five-year anniversary with the organization, having joined Watercrest in fall 2018 as a RN clinical specialist.

Jackson-Hannah’s clinical expertise includes more than 30 years in the healthcare industry, where she began as a medical assistant, earning her RN in 2009, and serving as a regional mentor and the health and wellness director of a large assisted living community before joining Watercrest.

Morning Pointe promotes Shona Chandler to VP of associate engagement 

Shona Chandler has been promoted to vice president of associate engagement at Morning Pointe Senior Living

Chandler has worked with Morning Pointe Senior Living for the past two years. She started as director of operational support and then became the senior director of associate engagement.

For 13 years, Chandler has been an executive director in the senior living industry. She started her career in 1996 with Hamilton Ryker, where she was area HR manager for six years. Chandler obtained her HR management designation in 1998 at Belmont College in Nashville, TN.

Westminster-Canterbury of Blue Ridge President and CEO Gary Selmeczi to retire

Gary Selmeczi, president and CEO of Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge, Charlottesville, VA, will retire after 19 years of service. 

During his tenure at the continuing care retirement community,  Selmeczi guided the organization through the Great Recession of 2008 and the global COVID-19 pandemic, significantly improved occupancy and obtained an investment grade rating from Fitch. Selmeczi will work with the board to ensure a smooth leadership transition. The board will retain an executive search firm to help identify Selmeczi’s successor.

Ascent names Amelia Schafer area director of memory care

Amelia Schafer has been named area director of memory care at Centennial, CO-based Ascent Senior Living. She will oversee the implementation of proactive resident care programs, ranging from mild cognitive impairment with assisted living residents to comprehensive memory care operations, across Ascent’s four Colorado senior living communities.

Schafer comes to the provider from the Colorado chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, where for two decades she led the professional education division, including the development of the Alzheimer’s Learning Institute, a certificate program for health professionals, as well as the expansion of the Colorado chapter programming department into the top 10% of Alzheimer’s Association chapters nationwide.

Springs at Carman Oaks names Beth Mueller executive director

Beth Mueller has been named executive director at The Springs at Carman Oaks, Lake Oswego, OR. 

Mueller joins The Springs Living after seven years with Brookdale Senior Living, where she most recently served as an executive director. She started her career in senior living as a life enrichment director for Merrill Gardens in 2011.

In addition to administrator certifications in Oregon and Washington, Mueller has an undergraduate degree in exercise science from Linfield University.

Buckner names Hannah Culp as healthcare administrator at Ventana

Hannah Culp has been named a healthcare administrator at Ventana by Buckner in Dallas. 

Culp joins Ventana from Life Care Services, where she was associate executive director for Autumn Leaves and health center administrator for Walnut Place, two senior living communities in Dallas. Before that, she worked in Kansas as an administrator and executive director for several healthcare and assisted living-focused communities.

Culp attended Kansas State University for her undergraduate studies and Wichita State University for her graduate studies. She holds a Bachelor of Science in human development and family science and a Master of Arts in aging studies. She is a licensed nursing home administrator in both Kansas and Texas.

LCB hires Maggie Abbonizio as reflections director at Residence at Bala Cynwyd

Maggie Abbonizio has been named Reflections memory care program director at The Residence at Bala Cynwyd, Bala Cynwyd, PA.

Abbonizio has more than a decade’s worth of experience in the senior living industry, most recently serving as social services director at The Hill at Whitemarsh in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Abbonizio holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Caldwell University and is pursuing an MBA from Eastern University. She has a certificate as a dementia practitioner from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners and is certified as a Montessori elder care practitioner by Brush Development.

Ashley Gonzalez has been promoted to engagement director at The Residence at Freeman Lake in North Chelmsford, MA.

Before moving to her new role, Gonzalez was engagement assistant in the Reflections memory care program at The Residence at Freeman Lake. She is a certified dementia practitioner and is also an English as a second language teacher for adults.

Green Street welcomes Anjali Gupta Reddi as new chief data officer

Anjali Gupta Reddi has been appointed chief data officer at Newport Beach, CA-based commercial real estate intelligence and analytics firm Green Street. She will drive the firm’s global data strategy and operations and will serve as a member of the senior leadership team.

Prior to joining Green Street, Reddi was chief data officer at Dow Jones, where she managed the end-to-end lifecycle of the data business on a global scale. Before Dow Jones, she held the positions of global data governance officer for Citigroup’s Commercial Bank and head of analytics strategy and governance at Dun & Bradstreet.

Reddi earned her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Master of Science in international business from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Delhi College of Engineering.
