Providers identify 5 key areas for person-centered care of residents with dementia

Several senior living companies were part of a roundtable that helped researchers identify five areas of change and developed person-centered practical solutions to address the unmet needs of people with dementia. The results of their work appear in the November issue of JAMDA, the journal of AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.

Memory care initial rates average 8.5% below average asking rate: NIC

Average initial rates for residents moving into independent living, assisted living and memory care segments were below average asking rates amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with monthly spreads generally largest for memory care. That’s according to the second quarter Seniors Housing Actual Rates Report released Tuesday by the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care’s NIC MAP Data Service.

HHS extends Medicaid provider CARES Act funding application deadline — again; House passes HUD spending bill with $4.6 billion bump

The Department of Health and Human Services is extending until Aug. 28 the deadline for eligible state Medicaid providers, including assisted living operators, to apply for monies from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Provider Relief Fund. The announcement came on the same day that the House passed a fiscal year 2021 spending bill for the Department of Housing and Urban Development that represents a $4.6 billion increase over HUD’s FY20 enacted funding level.
