The pandemic continues to take a toll on the nation’s physical, mental and financial well-being, but it also may have an upside when it comes to the aging population, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.
Among the positives: likely expansion of home- and community-based programs, including the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. Experts expect a greater focus on aging at home and a shift of financial incentives to enable success.
Another positive: new technologies that enable at-home care. At the forefront is telemedicine and related wearable devices and diagnostic tests; Amazon’s newly announced Care Hub; and DiscoverLive, which provides older adults and others with access to live-streamed virtual travel led by guides.
