Fort Washington, PA-based Acts Retirement–Life Communities and Mease Life of Dunedin, FL, have signed a letter of intent to explore a possible affiliation. A due diligence review has begun, and the companies expect the possible affiliation to begin in the fall.

Mease Life is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement / life plan community that is home to approximately 350 residents. If the affiliation comes to fruition, the CCRC would become an Acts affiliate member and part of a network of CCRCs operated and managed by Acts, the nation’s third-largest not-for-profit senior living organization and second-largest not-for-profit operator of CCRCs, per the 2022 LeadingAge Ziegler 200. Acts currently operates 26 CCRCs in nine states, collectively serving more than 10,000 residents.

“The potential affiliation with Mease Life presents a unique opportunity for Acts to expand our presence in the Florida market,” Acts CEO Gerald T. Grant said in a statement. “Our organizations share common values and a commitment to providing exceptional senior living experiences and services for residents.”

The nine-story Mease Life high-rise community, founded in the late 1960s, includes a mix of independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing units, along with other specialty care health services.

“The joining of Acts and Mease Life would be a commitment of two strong and respected organizations,” Mease Life President and CEO Kent L. McRae said. “We believe this is a perfect opportunity to strengthen our organization, establish greater efficiencies and effectiveness, and is in the best interests of our residents and staff now and into the future.”
