Utah’s first life plan community welcomed residents this week.
Summit Vista, located in Taylorsville, UT, includes independent living, assisted living, home care, nursing care, memory care and rehabilitation services. The 105-acre campus also includes a 62,000-square-foot clubhouse with amenities such as a 25-yard indoor lap pool, a fitness center, clubs and activity studios, and three restaurants with menus of health-conscious options.
With a planned 1,800 total units, the continuing care retirement community will be the largest senior living community in Utah. The first phase already is filling up, according to the community. Residents are moving into two buildings.
Summit Vista has contracted with Intermountain Healthcare and Zions Bank to serve residents’ healthcare and financial needs, respectively.
“Our team has been thorough in designing a community that provides everything important to seniors,” Summit Vista CEO and Executive Director Mark Erickson said. “The response has been tremendous. Because many residents are telling their friends, we expect to be at capacity far ahead of projections.”
Summit Vista’s perceived affordability is one reason or its popularity, he said.
“Residents who are 62 and older qualify to move here and will typically put the earnings from the sale of their home toward an entrance deposit,” Erickson said. “When they move out or pass on, 90 percent of their deposit will be refunded to them or their designees. That allows them to enjoy all of Summit Vista for a monthly cost of around $1,800 to $2,900, which gives them access to all of our offerings, meals and a monthly $500 stipend for food.”
