As senior living and skilled nursing professionals joined together to work through pandemic-related challenges, new connections were made and long-term friendships were formed. Those are some of the “bright spots” of COVID-19, LeadingAge Board of Directors Chair Carol Silver Elliott said Tuesday when delivering the keynote address opening the 2020 LeadingAge Annual Meeting Virtual Experience.

More COVID-19 relief needed before January, provider groups say

While congratulating President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their victories at the polls, executives of the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living and LeadingAge are calling for Congress to work in the time before the Jan. 20 inauguration to pass an aid package to help long-term care operators and others battling the coronavirus.

One might think that an organization with thousands of members and many varied ideologies might require a leader who manages with a stern voice and an iron fist. In the case of LeadingAge, the organization of nonprofit aging services providers chose to go in another direction at the turn of the century, and it couldn’t have been happier.
