Wow. When McKnight’s Senior Living and sister media brand McKnight’s Long-Term Care News announced the inaugural McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards in December, we thought it would be a great way to honor the women in senior living and skilled nursing, who, as Editorial Director John O’Connor put it, seemed like the forgotten heroes of long-term care.

Judging by the number of nominations we received, many people shared our desire to shine a spotlight on the numerous women executives, directors and thought leaders making a difference in their companies and in the lives of the residents they serve, colleagues with whom they work and communities in which they live.

We’ve received a similar response to the event at which we will be honoring the award recipients — Juniper Communities’ CEO Lynne Katzmann, Ph.D., as the Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, as well as 19 executive-level Hall of Honor award recipients and 21 Rising Star honorees, who are aged fewer than 40 years or have less than 15 years of experience in the senior living or post-acute care fields.

Tickets for the McKnight’s Women of Distinction event, which is set for the evening of May 16 in Chicago, are going fast, and the event is headed to sell-out status. The evening will include refreshments, cocktails and networking, the awards presentation, remarks from Katzmann and others, and more. PointClickCare is the program’s platinum sponsor.

But there’s still time to plan to attend. To order tickets or see a gallery of the first class of the McKnight’s Women of Distinction, visit https://womenofdistinction.splashthat.com/.

And stay tuned for information about how to nominate women for recognition next year.
