To understand how long COVID is affecting employers and employees, the Department of Labor, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the surgeon general are seeking participants for a national dialogue about workplace challenges.

Employers are asked about challenges they face when workers experience long-term symptoms, and employees with long COVID are asked to share challenges they face in the workplace.

Specifically, the government is seeking input on:

  • Challenges workers face as they cope with symptoms.
  • Employer support for workers with long COVID.
  • Ways to inform workers and employers about long COVID.
  • Organizations to engage to develop solutions for those affected by long COVID.
  • Obstacles to obtaining disability benefits that workers with long COVID.

According to Surgeon General Vivek Murty, M.D., MPH, long COVID tends to affect older people more often than younger ones, but it can happen to everyone who has COVID-19, even if they are young and healthy.
