Anita Mamone has been promoted to chief legal and governance officer at Health Services Management. She will be responsible for the legal affairs of the entire corporation, including internal management of all litigation matters and outside counsel.

Mamone received a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology, criminal justice and corrections from Florida State University in 2005, a law degree from Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2008, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree in 2011.

Country Meadows promotes Diana Ponterio to SVP, COO

Diana Ponterio

Diana Ponterio has been promoted at Country Meadows Retirement Communities to senior vice president and chief operating officer. She steps into the role following Meredith Mills’ promotion to president and CEO.

During her more than 13 years with Country Meadows, Ponterio has held positions with increasing responsibility. In her new role, she oversees operations for Country Meadows’ 10 campuses as well as Ecumenical Retirement Community, its non-profit sister company. She has worked in senior living for more than 25 years, with prior experience leading an organization serving children with developmental disabilities.

Ponterio is a board member for the Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association and holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology as well as a healthcare administration graduate certificate.

Chapters Living Communities names two SVPs

Rebecca “Becky” Kaufmann, RN, BSN, and Tyler Brady, CPA, have been named senior vice presidents at Chapters Living.

Kaufmann joins Chapters as the senior vice president of quality of life and memory support. She has more than 16 years of experience as a healthcare executive with emphasis on senior living.

Brady joins the company as senior vice president of strategic finance. He has more than 13 years of financial analysis and strategy experience.

Watermark appoints Rene Sanz Jr. executive director of Watermark at Coral Gables

Rene Sanz Jr. has been named executive director at The Watermark at Coral Gables

After six years working in hotels, Sanz made the transition to senior living as community liaison for an assisted living community in Miami. He then became executive director at a new assisted living community in Miami-Dade County, then joined Brookdale Senior Living as an executive director.

In 2006, Sanz became director of operations with Senior Living Management, managing communities in Florida, Georgia and Pennsylvania. He then returned to community life as executive director with Five Star Senior Living in 2015 before recently joining Watermark.

Village at Kensington Place promotes Jody Abel to executive director

Jody Abel has been promoted to executive director of The Village at Kensington Place, a Benchmark Senior Living assisted living and memory care community in Meriden, CT. She has been with Kensington Place’s sister community, Crescent Point at Niantic, for more eight years as its director of business administration.

Abel brings more than 30 years of healthcare human resources experience to the role. Before joining Benchmark, she was the director of human resources for a local skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility for almost four years.

Abel attended Bryant University, where she earned an undergraduate degree in human resources with a minor in biology.

Watermark at West Palm Beach names executive director, other appointees

Sarah Ostrow has been appointed executive director at the Watermark at West Palm Beach, a 154-unit Watermark Retirement Communities independent living assisted living and memory care community in West Palm Beach, FL, that is part of Watermark’s Élan collection of senior living communities with a luxury wellness resort mindset. The first residents are expected to move in in March.

Ostrow has managed senior living communities in Florida and Ohio for more than 15 years, leading daily operations across assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing. She has earned honors and awards for her work.

In addition to Ostrow, the Watermark at West Palm Beach is welcoming several other staff members: 

  • Alissa Zemering, MA, ATR, LCAT, is community life director. Before joining Watermark, she was a life engagement coordinator within both independent living communities and skilled nursing facilities. She has a Master of Arts degree in creative arts therapy. 
  • Pierre Devoliere is dining services director and will oversee the community’s four restaurants. He brings to the position a certificate in certified dietary management and years of culinary experience. Born in Haiti, Devoliere moved to West Palm Beach when he was 16 years old. He worked in the culinary departments of senior living communities while at Palm Beach State College and honed his skills at the Lincoln Culinary Institute.
  • Rebecca Melton is human resources director. With years of human resources experience in senior living under her belt, Melton will be directing the community’s human resources department and overseeing the development of key talent and policy throughout the community. 
  • Nikki Trimble is membership director. Serving South Florida older adults since 2010, she has led sales departments for several senior living communities.
  • Nick Degenarro is maintenance director. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Degenarro is a carpenter who brought his talents to Extreme Home Makeover for six years before transitioning to senior living. He has overseen maintenance for senior living communities in Long Island and Florida.

Fox Run promotes Pamela Cameron to director of resident life

Pamela Cameron has been promoted to director of resident life at Fox Run, an Erickson Senior Living-managed continuing care retirement community in Novi, MI. 

Cameron has practiced as an National Strength and Conditioning Association personal trainer and fitness instructor for more than 15 years. Before joining Fox Run, she was the senior services supervisor for the senior services department for the city of Northville, MI.

Cameron holds an  undergraduate degree in corporate fitness from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree in administration of leisure service from the University of Illinois.

Lifespace Communities announces new sales directors

Alison Ross Tompkins and Sharron Empson-Hart as sales directors at Lifespace Communities’ Abbey Delray and Abbey Delray South, respectively, in Florida.

Tompkins comes to Abbey Delray after an eight-year tenure as sales director at a senior living community in Virginia. Her sales experience includes 10 years in the real estate industry.

Empson-Hart is a sales and marketing management professional with more than 20 years of experience in the United States and Europe.

Acts names executive director, appoints new board members

Darcell Collins-Robinson has been named executive director of Magnolia Trace, an Acts Retirement–Life community in Huntsville, AL.

Collins-Robinson most recently was chief operating officer and practice administrator for a Huntsville-based rehabilitation and neurological services practice. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare administration from the Florida Institute of Technology, and she earned her MBA from the University of Alabama.

Also, Acts has added James Glynn, Heinz Hegmann and Daniel Middlebrooks, DMin, to its board.

Glynn is co-founder (retired) of senior living marketing firm GlynnDevins, now known as Attane. He started working in senior living in 1981 as the vice president of marketing at John Knox Village. 

Glynn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Rockhurst University and remains active in numerous charitable and civic organizations, including serving on the boards of Rockhurst University and the Continuing Care Hall of Fame.

Hegmann is a retired marketing and communications executive whose career includes 37 years with IBM. He also previously was president of The Evergreens Resident Council and chair of its Finance Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Queens College.

Middlebrooks has more than 30 years of experience in areas of ministry and medical services. Since his retirement in 2013, he continues to remain active in his community, serving as the senior pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, the command chaplain for multiple first responder agencies and founder/CEO of Chaplaincy Care. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Athens State College and a divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Health Dimensions Group announces John Capasso as executive adviser of senior care

John Capasso has been named executive adviser of senior care at Health Dimensions Group.

Most recently, he was executive vice president and president of the continuing care division for Trinity Health. Previously, he was senior vice president of Continuing Care of Catholic Health East. 

Capasso holds a Master of Arts degree in healthcare administration from George Washington  University, Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA

Rev. Ken Daniel is president and CEO of United Church Homes, which provides a range of services across the care continuum in 15 states. 

Justine Vogel is president and CEO of The RiverWoods Group, a group of three not-for-profit continuing care retirement communities in New England. 

Danny Williams is the former president and CEO of the now-closed Eliza Bryant Village, a 125-year-old aging services provider with deep roots serving underprivileged African Americans in Cleveland.

LeadingAge Florida announces Magdalen Flynt as director of convention and brand experience

Magdalen Flynt has been promoted to director of convention and brand experience at LeadingAge Florida. She formerly was the association’s accounting and office manager.

Flynt has more than 25 years of administrative, accounting and event coordination experience. Prior work experience includes time with Digital Equipment Corp., SolidWorks and various financial institutions.

American Healthcare REIT appoints 2 to board

Marvin O’Quinn and Valerie Richardson have been named to the board of directors of American Healthcare REIT.

Both will be independent directors of the company, with O’Quinn also serving as a member of the compensation committee and Richardson belonging to the nominating and corporate governance committees.

Since February 2019, O’Quinn has been the president and chief operating officer of CommonSpirit Health. Additionally, he is chairman of the board of directors for Dignity Health Global Education and a member of the board of First Initiatives Insurance.

Richardson has served as the chief operating officer of ICSC since February 2021. She previously was the vice president of real estate for The Container Store, where she led its real estate team from September 2000 until February 2021.
