Trinity Health Senior Communities promotes Janice Hamilton-Crawford to president and CEO

Janice Hamilton-Crawford has been promoted to president and CEO of Trinity Health Senior Communities, based in Livonia, MI. The promotion, effective June 6, will make her the first Black woman to be named president and CEO of a Trinity Health national division.

Hamilton-Crawford will succeed Steve Kastner, who announced his retirement last year. 

In her new role, Hamilton-Crawford will lead more than 40 independent living, assisted living, memory care, affordable senior housing communities and skilled nursing facilities across the United States. She has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, having joined Trinity Health in 2018 as the first president for Trinity Health Senior Communities’ New England Region. In that position, she built a regional network of independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and rest home communities in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine. 

Hamilton-Crawford also has built and solidified partnerships, including close collaborations with the Sisters of Mercy and the Sisters of Providence as well as with state and local elected officials.

She holds an MBA in healthcare management and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. Additionally, she completed the Women’s Leadership Program through Yale University’s School of Management.

Hamilton-Crawford serves on the boards of LeadingAge Connecticut and Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support in Dallas. She is a member of Catholic Health Association’s Eldercare Advisory Council and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority North Central Texas Alumnae Chapter, and she is an Unstoppable Cultures Fellow.  

NexCore Group names Jeff Slichta COO of Experience Senior Living

Jeff Slichta has been hired as chief operating officer of Experience Senior Living by Denver-based NexCore Group, a national healthcare real estate developer. 

Most recently, Slichta was executive vice president of housing and hospitality at Transforming Age, where he was responsible for systems and outcomes in the market-rate housing vertical for the nonprofit organization. Before that, he was senior vice president of operations for Sunrise Senior Living, with operational oversight for five regions and 145 communities throughout 17 states and British Columbia. He also formerly was chief operating officer for both Era Living and Oakdale Heights Management Corp.

Slichta holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and a Master of Public Administration in health services from Brigham Young University.

Bridge Senior Living announces executive promotion and role change

Orlando, FL-based Bridge Senior Living has announced an executive promotion and one executive role change that creates a new position within the company.

Katharine Anderson has been promoted to vice president of marketing and digital strategy. She joined Bridge in early 2021 as digital marketing and communications director following her work as a luxury account manager for Marriott International locations in Florida. Previously, Anderson was a marketing specialist at Jupiter Medical Center & Hospital in Jupiter, FL. She also formerly worked with Florida-based PGA National Resort & Spa and Wyndham Hotel Group.

Anderson earned an undergraduate degree in marketing and advertising from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers and a hospitality and tourism management certification from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

In addition, Karen Ingram is moving to the new role of vice president of sales support and customer experience. She will build and introduce a new “first impression” initiative, oversee resident satisfaction surveys, work closely with resident services directors to create new “VIP treatment” programs for residents and their families, partner with corporate-level operations and sales and marketing to create a customer experience, and coach and mentor executive directors. Ultimately, Ingram will oversee Bridge’s hospitality program to ensure that standards are met consistently across the company.

Ingram joined Bridge’s executive team in May 2021 as senior executive director and operations/sales specialist and most recently was a regional vice president of sales and marketing. Starting in 2016, she previously was part of the community leadership teams at Summer Village in Auburn, AL, and director of sales and marketing with Somerby St. Vincent’s One Nineteen in Birmingham.

Ingram earned an undergraduate degree in health services administration from Auburn University and has a nursing home administrator license and a category II assisted living administrator license.

Piper Shores appoints Philip Jean as CEO

Philip D. Jean has been named CEO of Piper Shores, a Scarborough, ME-based retirement community. Jean will be taking over for Piper Shores’ former CEO, Jim Adamowicz, who recently retired after nine years with the nonprofit organization.

In his new role, Jean will be responsible for the overall direction and leadership of Piper Shores in the pursuit of the organization’s mission, vision, values, strategies, goals and objectives. Those duties include continuing the growth and expansion of the community and advancing the organization’s social accountability and diversity and inclusion initiatives as well as fostering community culture and providing exceptional quality of life for residents. Jean’s top priorities include developing strategies and programs to enhance the lives of residents; identifying opportunities to grow programs, amenities and services; and focusing on workforce transformation and technology innovation. Additionally, he will be looking to expand on Piper Shores dining offerings, and he will seek to align the community with what today’s emerging retirees desire.

Jean comes to Piper Shores from his most recent position as executive director at Seabrook Village, a New Jersey continuing care retirement community serving more than 1,300 residents and 700 employees. He brings more than 25 years of executive-level experience in healthcare and senior living administration to Piper Shores.

A Maine native, Jean earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Maine in Orono. He then went on to Husson University, where he earned a Master of Science in business administration, with a concentration in healthcare management.

Erickson Senior Living announces two executive director appointments

Erickson Senior Living has named Dee Dee Gray-Weaver as executive director of Riderwood, a continuing care retirement community in Silver Spring, MD, and has promoted Jennifer McNamara to executive director of Seabrook Village in Trinton, NJ.

Gray-Weaver brings 20 years of managerial experience to her new role. Before becoming part of the Riderwood leadership team, she spent almost 15 years at Choice Hotels, where she honed her hospitality and managerial skills.

Gray-Weaver holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a master of business degree from American University’s Kogod School of Business.

McNamara has been a member of the Seabrook team for more than 18 years and has been an associate executive director since 2017.

She started her career at Seabrook in 2003 as a social work intern. Before her role as associate executive director, she worked in various positions, including resident life director, resident life manager, senior social work manager and social worker.

McNamara is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified assisted living administrator. She holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Delaware and a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University.

Ecumen CEO Shelly Kendrick receives Women in Business Award

Shelley Kendrick, president and CEO of Shoreview, MN-based Ecumen, was named one of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s 2022 Women in Business honorees.

This designation recognizes leaders from various industries, including real estate, the arts and senior living and care. Kendrick is one of 51 honorees recognized for their professional achievements, leadership qualities and contributions to the region.

Kendrick assumed the role of CEO in February 2019. She joined the company in 2012 as vice president of operations. Before then, she led the Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis. Previously, she managed operations for several healthcare facilities in Ohio and Minnesota for 15 years.

Kendrick has a Masters in Nonprofit Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and an undergraduate degree in English language and literature from Eastern Michigan University.

Ziegler hires Julie Peterman as new director and senior municipal research analyst

Julie Peterman, CFA, has joined specialty investment bank Ziegler as director and senior municipal research analyst. She is located in the Richmond, VA, office.

Peterman will interact with all underwriting, trading and sales functions within Ziegler Capital Markets. She also will participate as a member of Ziegler’s Credit Review Committee.

Peterman comes to Ziegler from Truist Bank Capital Markets after serving as a senior municipal analyst at the former BB&T Capital Markets. She is a CFA Charter holder, a member of the NMFA, Women’s Bond Club and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and also has a Master of Health Administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.

D.A. Davidson welcomes four news leaders to its senior living practice

Financial services firm D.A. Davidson has hired four bankers focused on senior living and structured housing to its Fixed Income Capital Markets Group.

Richard “Rick” Lohr joins the firm as managing director and head of senior living and structured housing, Amy Hayman and Romy McCarthy come on board as managing directors, and Ogieva Guobadia, CFA, joins as senior vice president.

Through their collective decades of industry experience, the team has completed more than 250 financings representing more than $10 billion for senior living and structured housing clients. Their clients range across both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, and they have expertise in life plan communities, rental senior housing and affordable senior housing. Before joining D.A. Davidson, the team led the senior living practice at Piper Sandler.

LW Consulting announces several leadership promotions and additions

Harrisbug, PA-based LW Consulting Inc. has announced several promotions effective June 1.

Jane Snecinksi will be joining the firm on June 6 as senior director of post-acute care services. She will be responsible for the firm’s entire post-acute care practice, which the company defines to include assisted living, skilled nursing, home health, hospice and rehabilitation consulting. She is the former president of Post-Acute Advisors in Atlanta.

Jim Wright has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer. He has been with the company since 2012, starting as a consultant, with expanding responsibility to include leading the Hospital and Physicians division of the practice and serving as project manager for several independent review organization clients. As COO, Jim will continue to lead those areas while providing oversight and direction to the company’s acute care and reimbursement consulting teams.

Houllahan has 26 years of healthcare management experience, including a background in revenue cycle management, financial management and customized analytics. He is the former senior revenue cycle client manager for Cerner and before joining LWCI was president and CEO of his own consulting practice.
